The City proposes an update to its Local Coastal Program (LCP) including:

1. A General Plan Amendment (GPA) to comprehensively update the Coastal Element including sea level rise modeling, vulnerability assessment, and coastal resiliency planning
2. A Zoning Text Amendment (ZTA) to add sea level rise standards in the floodplain ordinance
3. A Local Coastal Program Amendment to incorporate the GPA and ZTA into the LCP

LCP Update Virtual Public Open House

The California Coastal Act requires local governments within the California Coastal Zone to have a certified LCP. LCPs contain rules and regulations for future development in the coastal zone and protection of coastal resources, by specifying the appropriate location, type, and scale of new or changed uses.
